Crude oil’s pour point is the lowest temperature at which crude oil can still flow. If the pour point for crude oil is higher than the surrounding temperature, crude oil cannot flow. this process obviously disrupts crude oil production in oil and gas so much. In addition to disrupting the production process, easily frozen crude oil will cause damage to such equipment as oil pumps.

Pour point depressant (PPD) is a chemical that serves to reduce the pour point of crude oil. By lowering the pour point of crude oil below the ambient temperature, the crude oil remains aqueous and easy to flow. PPD’s effect is permanent, meaning PPD is able to maintain the temperature of the crude oil pour point from the beginning to the end. To apply PPD, continuously inject it into the pipe.
